Firefox - Rediscover the web

Woo hoo. I just read that the first official version of my favourite web browser Firefox has been released. I highly recomend this browser over Internet Explorer for many reasons (security being the biggest) even though you do have to put up with the occasional "web site won't work coz it's designed for ie". If you are not using it at the moment GO GET IT NOW.

Nuff said.
Salut.

Opera had/has this problem too, even though it's probably more compliant than IE. The problem is with crappy web browser detection JavaScript's that still haunt the web, either from ancient web page tutorials and books or "stolen" from other poorly made web sites. On that note, we should all strive for Standards Compliance in both (X)HTML code, CSS, and JavaScript. You could look at WaSP for stuff like that, they mainly focus on HTML and accessibility though.
Back to the originial point, you used to be able to spoof your browser id string and say you were an IE browser, but I don't think that works anymore and I can't find a Firefox Extension for it anyway. There is this which makes a right-click menu entry for "Open in IE" which could make life easier for those annoying pages.
